One of the most popular beaches in Sri Lanka is Unawatuna beach. This place is a famous tourist attraction and it’s only one hour ride from the capital city, Colombo. In 2004, because of Tsunami this beach was destroyed and later on it was rebuilt. Even the resort owners quickly rebuilt their destroyed resorts as this beach was a well known place among the tourists. 

This wide stretched beach offers some good swimming and some parts of the beach is occupied for sunbeds to rent. There is a beach opposite to this called Jungle beach, which is more quiet but not easy to visit. If you have time, it’s worth the visit as it is a calm beach than the others in the area. Famous Galle fort is also near the Unawatuna beach, which is a definite destination for all tourists and locals. There are some gymnasiums in the area for the people who love to work out.
