A city nestled at the foot of Sri Lanka’s highest peak

Nuwara Eliya is 179km north east of Colombo nestled at the foot of Sri Lanka’s highest peak. It takes approximately 5 hours to travel. This is a main tourist attraction because of its frigid and frosty atmosphere. The English may have left Sri Lanka’s shores but even today Nuwara Eliya with its Tudor-style and Victorian residences seems like a picturesque corner of the English Lake District. The drive to this breathtaking town is long and winding with marvellous views of the island’s hill scenery. While the winds of change blow softly but surely through the legendary rolling hills of Sri Lanka’s tea estates, drink Ceylon tea the renowned and most-loved tea of the world! The city is ample of old and the new hotels, the clock tower, the Anglican Church, the Victoria Park, the Race Course, the Golf Course, Lake Gregory Mount Pidurutalagala and the seemingly endless hills and tumbling waterfalls giving way almost abruptly to the southern plains, which stretch as far as the eye can see, all the way to the coast.
