In the south coast of Sri Lanka, lies the Yala National Park with the most amazing wildlife that one can witness. It is one of the most famous national parks in the country situated in over 400 square feet of land with a wide range of diverse wildlife.

The Yala National Park is divided into 5 zones of which two zones (Zone 1 and Zone 5) are open to the general public and the rest are only open for professional research.

The most common animals that you can witness are elephants, monkeys, buffaloes, crocodiles and deer. You can also spot a lot of elephants and a wide variety of bird species. A jeep safari through the park can help you get up close to the wildlife. Yala national park is one of the best spots in the country to spot leopards. It is said to have over 40 leopards however this does not guarantee you will see one on your visit. If you’re lucky enough, you may be able to spot a few leopards.

The Yala visit is a truly unique experience due to the vast number of flora and fauna. It is best visited in February as this is the ideal time to spot leopards during the start of the dry season.
